Mitch was at his best yesterday at the meeting of the Republican Governors Association in Austin, Texas.  He gave a stinging critique of President Obama’s health care reform proposal, calling its arithmetic “fraudulent” and a “sucker play” on taxpayers who are left to pick up the tab.

  1. Then why can’t we stop this freight train heading off the track. The ones that can stop it have jumped out of the way. The are still ignoring the 1 million marchers on Washington …whoops I mean the ten people that showed up with signs.

    • Good question. From what we hear, Democrat leaders are telling their members a couple things. First, nothing passing is a bigger political liability than something passing that no one likes. So if you’re Baron Hill, you might as well vote yes because if the bill goes down you’re more screwed than if it passes. Second, the coverage takes effect before the spending, so the political downside to billions more in state and federal debt won’t be felt for a while.
