If you are like us, by now you are all probably sick of leftovers. The turkey was good the first and second times. But the third and fourth times were disappointing. And now you just can’t stomach another round. But enough about Mike Sodrel.
With mere hours on the clock before we all return to work for a full week, we’re happy to provide a diversion with the latest edition of the monoblogue.
Let’s start with the Virginia couple that crashed President Obama’s first state dinner. Can you imagine? Unwelcome guests in Washington. Well, I guess now we know how Arlen Specter feels.
There was a lot of talk about how the couple was actually able to get in to the party. Turns out, security for the evening was provided by the Redskins’ offensive line.
Talk about stepping in on a party. Authorities called this the biggest crash this side of Tiger Woods.
I’m sure you’ve heard, but over the holiday weekend, while leaving his Orlando home, Tiger ran over a fire hydrant and crashed into a tree. I’ve heard of the Tiger Slam, but this is ridiculous.
The crash was so bad, authorities said his wife bashed in the rear window with a driver to help pull Tiger out of the ditch. It was a valliant effort on her part, but with that kind of lie, she really should have gone with a loft wedge.
Now, TMZ is reporting the whole thing was a domestic dispute, which makes a lot more sense. Are we really supposed to buy the story that Tiger wrecks pulling out of his driveway at 2:30 a.m., he splits his lip, and his wife comes to the rescue with a Big Bertha to the rear windsheild? Come on. If you believe that, my buddy Tim Durham has some investments to sell you.
Tell me something. In this day and age, how can a guy like Durham get away with this scam for so long? Wake up, Indiana! Have Todd Rokita’s TV commercials taught us nothing?
Elsewhere, NFL offensive lineman Jon Runyan will run for Congress in New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District. He hasn’t outlined his platform yet, but we’re hearing he has a three-point stance on the issues.
He’ll be taking on incumbent Democrat John Adler. During his playing days with the Philadelphia Eagles, Runyan could line play any position on the line. But for this race, he will line up slightly right of center.
What a tough month for Indiana gaming. Majestic Star went bankrupt. Court documents say the company has $700 million in liabilities and only $400 million in assests. You know what I’d do if I were running the company? Put it all on black and turn things around.
Beyond that, The Star is reporting Hoosier Park Casino spent $534,434 lobbying the General Assembly last year. Spending that much without winning anything is frustrating. What makes it worse for the casino is that as soon as they stopped lobbying, an old lady spent $.25 and hit the jackpot.

The line about certain “TV commercials [having] “taught us nothing” may be the best work of multi-layered political prose I have seen this year.
I counted at least three secondary messages in that paragraph. Somebody will probably receive a phone call over that one.
