District 66 vs. Terry Goodin
Born and raised in Seymour, Jim Lucas understands the values that are important to our community. Jim is a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, graduated from Immanuel Lutheran School and Seymour High School in 1982. After graduation, he went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps. Jim was Honorman for his Basic Training Platoon and after his graduation from Infantry Training School, Jim was selected to serve at Marine Barracks 8th & I in Washington, D.C. where he was on The Silent Drill Team.
Today, Jim is Owner and President of The Awning Guy, Inc. located in Seymour. Starting as a hobby in their garage, he has been a small business owner for over 10 years and Jim understands the importance of hard work, a good reputation, trust and efficiency. Becoming concerned with decisions that were being made at the local level, Jim ran for and won an At Large City Council seat in Seymour in 2008. In his capacity as a City Councilman, Jim’s voting record proves him as a consistent advocate for limited government and protecting the taxpayer.
In the summer of 2009, Jim, his wife Lynn, and some other close friends started We the People, a grassroots organization for the Seymour area. As President, Jim formed and advertised the group as a non-partisan organization that was not concerned with political affiliation, race, religion, or economic standing, only a belief in individual liberty and limited government. By regularly featuring guest speakers that are experts in their fields, We the People has become tremendously successful in educating people regarding the values of our unalienable rights and a limited government.
Jim is a Lifetime Benefactor Member of the NRA, Lifetime Member of the G.O.A., the American Legion, and Knights of Columbus. Jim and his wife, Lynn, have been married for 15 years and have three children, Suzanne, Jack, and Maddie. |
